Our 60th Anniversary Concert will be an opportunity to celebrate all that EYO has achieved over the last sixty years: the music, the friendships, the fun, the madness! As a lasting legacy we have commissioned a brand new work by former EYO member and rising star Hannah Kendall, which will receive its World Premiere at the concert in the presence of the composer, followed by the infectious Danzón no 2 by Arturo Márquez and Dvorak’s 8th Symphony, before the evening ends with a grand pop-up all comers performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
That’s where you come in! We’d like as many former members as possible to bring their instruments and join in the concert finale so we can really raise the roof. There will be a single rehearsal at 4.30-5.30 pm on the day then a break for socialising before the concert begins at 7pm. After the main programme there will be an extended interval for fizz and cake cutting, before we reconvene for the all-comers 1812 Overture.
Let everyone know, bring your friends, arrange year-group reunions, whatever you like! There are still plenty of pubs and restaurants in Pitshanger Lane. Tickets are free for participants and we’ll even give you a glass of fizz in the interval to help you on your way! But we do need to know who’s coming and which instruments. It will be madness, but hey isn’t that what we’re famous for?!
So here’s what we need you to do:
SEE YOU THERE!
