EYO60 – Gigantic past and present orchestra triumphs

EYO’s 60th anniversary celebrations ended with a bang on Saturday June 29th when a combined orchestra of 170 present and past members representing every one of the orchestra’s six decades so far gave a tumultuous scratch performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture to thunderous acclaim from the packed audience of supporters. Among the audience were The Mayor of Ealing, local MPs Steve Pound and Rupa Huq and numerous former Music Directors and Chairs. Earlier in the evening the current orchestra gave the World Premiere of weaves flowers and leaves by former EYO member and current rising star Hannah Kendall. In a pre-performance interview Hannah explained that the piece was inspired by and based on the writings of Ada Lovelace, the celebrated nineteenth century pioneer of computing who was an Ealing resident. It was a memorable evening all round.
